Kumi Sushi is a hidden gem!! Highly, highly recommend. The sake nigiri was so buttery and so fresh. The San Juan roll was also incredible. All the food was delicious. Daisy completely makes the experience though. I saw in another review someone said that she's a "happy sushi fairy fielding everyone's needs" and that couldn't be more accurate. Love this place!!!
This spot was on my list of places to try since I would driven by it multiple times. The time has come, and it is now. I appreciated the relative quiet of the restaurant since I was hoping to unwind a bit. Service was quick and excellent. The Lion King rolls and Saki Punch were my orders. We devoured them! I will definitely come back and give other rolls a try.
My new favorite sushi spot. My partner and I went a couple months ago and we can't stop talking about it. Fish is fresh af and the service was amazing. We learned that their menu can vary day to day depending on the fish market and I love that. You can taste the freshness. cute decor perfect for a date or group things.
Kumi Sushi is a hidden gem! It's a small, intimate spot that feels personal and welcoming. The food was fresh and delicious, with every bite hitting just right. The cozy atmosphere makes for a great dining experience, whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or a relaxed meal.
My wife and I decided to check this place out on a whim on the way to Drake's for a birthday celebration. We came in during a Saturday afternoon right when they opened. The staff, and who I believe is the owner, were friendly and courteous. We ordered a fresh oyster appetizer, which was good, a chirashi bowl, and a seared salmon bowl. All of it was very delicious and exceeded expectations. The fish tasted very fresh and the rice was not too vinegary. The owner also gave us a complimentary shishito pepper appetizer, which was a pleasant surprise. Prices aren't cheap, but to be expected for a Japanese restaurant serving decent quality fish. If you are in the downtown area, this place is worth checking out for sure.
TL/dr: for high quality sushi and great service, go now Three times now, at different times of day, I've eaten at Kumi - and it's consistently delicious. The sashimi slice size is perfect -- not too thin or too thick; the fish is always exactly the right temp and freshness. Our server has been the same charming, highly attentive lady every time. The restaurant is just the right size to give diners plenty of room, while we also enjoyed the camaraderie offered by several tables enjoying GREAT sushi together. Inventive presentations/dishes, too.; see photos. Excellent miso soup! It's all just so goooood
Made a reservation for 4 for a Friday night. It wasn't packed because I think it's around the holidays. When I made the reservation a week ahead, I talked to Daisy and I asked if she had uni and chutoro and she said if I like that, she will order ahead to make sure they have it in stock for when we come! So kind of her!! We ordered chutoro, uni, A5 seared, assorted sashimi and a roll. The chutoro was really good. The Hokkaido uni was fantastic. It was so smooth, creamy and sweet! If you like uni, this is a must. It's served with some rice in the bottom and you just eat the whole thing in one bite. I had 4!!!! The A5 was so tender. I usually get it seared and so they said they can do it seared or not which was nice. They have a bar and alcohol as well. Anyways, great sushi place and the owner so so friendly and kind. Sushi was great. Will definitely come back again.
One of my favorite restaurants changed and got this place earlier in the year. I didn't find out till recently. Daisy is the owner. So we went to check it out. The place is small and on the corner. They have street parking but in a downtown area may be hard to get at certain times. I found a spot a few doors down. I thought there was a line to get in but people were just standing at the corner talking. We didn't have a reservation and there were only a few tables of customers. Seated right away. We were greeted by Daisy and caught up a little. I wanted a sake and told her to get me something smooth. She brought me a Kikusui Funaguchi and it came in a small can. It was great and I liked it. I wanted to try the oysters but she was out. I would have to get them another time. I got the Chirashi Sushi. I wasn't disappointed , it was fresh and flavorful. Loved it. My wife tried the Agedashi tofu but it wasn't the same. It was like other places and she used to love the one Daisy had at her other restaurant. She said she could make it for my wife when she comes in again. Daisy said that the clientele here preferer this way. We got the garlic salmon which was good and tried one of the popular rolls a sake punch. It was pretty good and I liked it. A nice place and we will have to come back and try more food. Glad we found your place Daisy.
